NOPD VOWS, U.S. Marshals Arrest Suspect in Homicide Investigation

The NOPD’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad and the U.S. Marshals today (November 29, 2023) arrested Donald Delaune (black male, DOB: 10-02-1993) in the investigation of a homicide that occurred on October 21, 2023,  in the 1000 block of North Peters Street.

At approximately 9:01 p.m., officers responded to a call of a male shot and upon their arrival, found the victim shot lying on the walkway. Emergency medical technicians arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.  

On October 23, the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 39-year-old Shawn Hubbard and determined cause of death to be from gunshot wound injuries.

Through investigation, NOPD Homicide Section detectives developed and positively identified Delaune as the perpetrator in this incident and obtained an arrest warrant on one count of second-degree murder.

Delaune was arrested this morning in the 1000 block of North Claiborne Avenue by VOWS and the U.S. Marshals. He was booked accordingly into the Orleans Parish Justice Center. Delaune was additionally booked on 20 open warrants for multiple business burglary incidents in the First, Fifth, Sixth and Eighth districts.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
