NOPD Obtains Arrest Warrant for Suspect in Homicide Investigation

The NOPD has obtained an arrest warrant for Felipe Brown-Sotello (not pictured, black male, DOB: 12-06-2002) in the investigation of a homicide that occurred on April 14, 2022, in the 3700 block of Mansfield Drive.

At about 9:45 p.m. on April 14, NOPD responded to a call of shots fired at the location. Upon arrival, responding officers discovered an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported by EMS to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

On April 18, the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office identified the victim in this incident as 19-year-old Jestin Kinard.

Through investigation, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives developed and positively identified Brown-Sotello as the perpetrator in this incident. On May 29, detectives secured an arrest warrant for Brown-Sotello on one count of second-degree murder.

Detectives learned that Brown-Sotello is currently incarcerated in Lafayette, La. on a probation violation and is now awaiting extradition to New Orleans.
