The NOPD is requesting the public’s assistance in locating a suspect vehicle and its driver in the investigation of a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred on February 29, 2024, at the intersection of Alvar and Abundance streets.

At approximately 8:34 p.m. on February 29, the victim was walking his bicycle in the far-right lane northbound on Alvar Street near Abundance Street. At the same time, a vehicle described as a Kia Optima allegedly struck the victim and dragged him several feet. The driver failed to stop and render aid. The victim sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene.

Investigators are working to identify the suspect vehicle and its owner/operator. The wanted vehicle is believed to have front-end damage and missing a fog light.

Anyone with additional information that can assist in this investigation is urged to contact NOPD Traffic Fatality Unit investigators at 504-658-6205. Those wishing to report information anonymously can do so by calling Crimestoppers of Greater New Orleans at 504-822-1111 or toll-free at 1-877-903-STOP.
