Weekend Arrest Round-Up – March 17-20

NOPD officers made multiple arrests this weekend for narcotics, shoplifting and burglary. In addition, officers confiscated four firearms.  

 

On March 16, 2017, Seventh District Taskforce Officers arrested Kedrick Singleton (DOB: 2-19-1995) while on patrol in the 7000 block of Martin Drive. Singleton was arrested for possession with the intent to distribute heroin, possession of a stolen vehicle from St. Bernard Parish, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

 

On March 17, 2017, at approximately 11:17 a.m., officers of the Seventh District General Assignment Unit conducted a traffic stop in the 4600 Block of Downman Road. The officers observed narcotics in plain view inside of the vehicle being driven by Rufus Moses (DOB: 2/2/1996).  A further search of the vehicle and Moses revealed additional illegal narcotics and a stolen Glock model 35, semi-automatic handgun. He was charged with possession of marijuana, heroin, and tramadol; possession of drug paraphernalia; possession of a firearm while in possession of narcotics; and illegal possession of stolen property (handgun).

 

The VOWS Unit arrested Renaldo George (DOB: 2/06/1988) for simple burglary on Saturday, March 18, 2017. The incident occurred in the 6900 block of Bellaire Street on February 23, 2017. George was also arrested on nine additional warrants for incidents in the 3rd District, a parole violation, and a warrant in Jefferson Parish for simple burglary and possession of stolen things.

 

Ricky Nelson (DOB: 9-7-94) of St. James, LA, was apprehended by Second District officers Jason Jorgenson and Michael Dewey for illegal carrying of a weapon during the March 19, 2017, Super Sunday event. A semi-automatic handgun and full charged magazine was confiscated from Nelson's waistband.  

 

Valerie Starks (DOB: 6-9-1981) was arrested on Sunday, March 19, 2017 for shoplifting. At approximately 9:30 a.m. Starks was observed placing merchandise in a shopping bag at the Dollar General store. When confronted by the manager, she dropped the bag and fled the scene, running east on Morrison Road. She was apprehended and arrested by Seventh District officers in the 11000 block of Morrison.

 

On March 20, 2017, Third District officers J. Burnett and S. Leboeuf initiated a traffic stop on a red Honda ATV at the intersection of Chef Menteur Highway and Old Gentilly. The driver of the ATV, Brandon Bargky (DOB: 10-28-1991) obeyed the officer’s signals and stopped. He was arrested for various traffic infractions and upon conducting a search officers found Bargky was carrying a concealed Glock model 19.
