VOWS Unit Apprehends Three

The NOPD’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad (VOWS) and U.S. Marshals have apprehended three individuals who were wanted in connection with major offenses.

 

Daniel Carter (DOB: 11/14/1993) for second degree murder and attempted second murder. The incident took place on January 9, 2017, in the 2500 block of New York Street and Carter was arrested today in Hammond, LA.  (photo not available)

 

Jeremy Francis (DOB:  12/14/1995) for aggravated assault with a firearm and criminal damage to property. Francis was apprehended today in Gretna, LA, for this incident, which occurred on February 16, 2017, in the 4600 block of Herschel Street.

 

Jerry Duplessis (DOB: 7/13/1985) for burglary and resisting an officer. The incident occurred in the 10500 block of Curran Boulevard on March 14, 2017. Duplessis was apprehended this morning in the 6000 block of Downman Road.

The Violent Offender Warrant Squad (VOWS) is responsible for tracking down individuals who are wanted for serious crimes and apprehending suspects with outstanding warrants. This unit operates within the NOPD’s Special Operations Division and works in conjunction with the United States Marshals Office Fugitive Task Force. In 2016 the unit was responsible from more than 500 arrests.
