UPDATED: NOPD has Located Missing Department Canine

Our previous story:

The NOPD is seeking information on the whereabouts of a NOPD Canine reported as missing on March 16, 2017.

At about midnight on March 16, the male canine – named “Spike” – was placed in his kennel by his partner officer at the officer’s residence.  When the officer returned later that morning to feed the canine, the canine was not in his kennel. Upon investigation, it was discovered that the canine had pulled a portion of the kennel apart, creating a small hole that allowed the canine to exit the kennel.

Several members of the NOPD Canine unit continue to conduct searches in the area around the officer’s residence, but have met with negative results.

“Spike” is described as a tan and brown Malinois breed dog, with some black markings in his fur and a portion of his face is white. “Spike” also had a silver choke collar around his neck when last seen.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of this canine are asked to immediately contact the NOPD Canine Unit at 504-658-6772.
