NOPD Investigating Homicide in Sixth District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred on June 25, 2023, in the 2700 block of Dryades Street that left one person dead and a second injured.

At about 9:02 p.m. on June 25, NOPD Sixth District officers were notified of a shooting incident reported in the 1800 block of Washington Avenue. Upon arrival, officers learned that two adult male gunshot wound victims arriving at a local hospital via separate private conveyances. One of the victims was later pronounced deceased.

Through investigation, it was later learned that the victims were both at a gathering in the 2700 block of Dryades Street when gunshots were allegedly fired by an unknown perpetrator. Both victims were reportedly struck by the gunfire.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. Therefore, no additional details are currently available.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of the autopsy and notification of the family.
