NOPD Arrests Suspect in Second District Armed Robbery

On June 14, 2023, the NOPD arrested Derrick Holmes (black male, DOB: 10-18-2001) in the investigation of an armed robbery that occurred on June 12, 2023, in the 5200 block of Coliseum Street.

In this incident, the perpetrator reportedly robbed the victim at gunpoint while the victim was on foot. The suspect took the victim’s belongings and fled the scene in the victim's vehicle.

While investigating this incident, NOPD Second District and Sixth District detectives located the reported solen vehicle at a location in the Sixth District and observed a subject to be entering the vehicle. As detectives approached the vehicle, the subject fled the scene on foot. A perimeter was established, during which the subject – later identified as Holmes – was arrested. Holmes was later positively identified as the perpetrator of the armed robbery incident

Holmes was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for armed robbery, use of a firearm in a robbery and resisting an officer by flight.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
