NOPD Arrests Suspect in Second Degree Robbery on Bienville Street

NOPD Arrests Suspect in Second Degree Robbery on Bienville Street

The NOPD today arrested Dejuan Paul (DOB: 10-05-1995) in connection with a robbery that occurred on Saturday, June 24, in the 200 block of Bienville Street and left the two victims injured.

Shortly before 9 p.m., surveillance video evidence shows four unknown males attacking two male victims from behind as they were walking in the 200 block of Bienville Street. After assaulting both victims and knocking them to the ground, the subjects robbed the victims of their property. The suspects then fled the scene.

Both victims were transported to a local hospital, where one of the victims was listed in critical condition and the other victim was listed in stable condition.

As investigation into the incident progressed, detectives were able to develop Paul as one of the individuals responsible for the robbery.

Investigation into this incident is ongoing.

In addition to this arrest, the NOPD has either made arrests or obtained arrest warrants in numerous incidents in June. These include:

Homicides

  • A June 10 stabbing death on Calliope Street was cleared by arrest on the same day.
  • Two warrants were issued on June 21 in a June 13 shooting death on Chef Menteur Highway.
  • Two arrests were made, one each on June 21 and 22) in a June 14 shooting on Olive Street.
  • A arrest was made June 19 in a June 15 stabbing death on Decatur Street
  • An arrest was made on June 20 in a June 19 shooting death on North Roman Street.

Non-Fatal Shootings

  • An arrest was made on June 7 for a charge of second degree murder in a June 4 shooting on Laverne Street where four victims were injured.
  • The suspected perpetrator in a June 4 shooting on Upperline Street that injured two victims was arrested on the scene and charged with aggravated battery by shooting.
  • The suspected perpetrator in a June 7 shooting on N I-10 Service Road was arrested within hours of the incident and charged with attempted second-degree murder.
  • The suspected perpetrator in a June 12 shooting on Corinne Street that injured one victim was arrested on June 14 and charged with aggravated battery.
  • The suspected perpetrator in a June 20 shooting on North Galvez Street was arrested at the scene.

Other violent crime arrests by NOPD in June 2017

June 21

  • Steven Johnson (DOB: 06/11/93)  as arrested for with marijuana distribution, cocaine distribution, possession of tramadol, possession of a weapon while in possession of narcotics and possession of stolen property. The arrest came after more than two months of surveillance by Second District detectives into narcotic activity in the 3800 block of Jena Street.

June 23

  • Matthew Bell (DOB: 6/29/85) was arrested for second degree rape. The incident occurred on June 21, 2017 and the arrest took place in the 8900 block of Forshey.
  • VOWS and the U.S. Marshals arrested Aaron Roach (DOB: 10/2/1996) for human trafficking of children for sexual purposes.  The incident occurred in the 4000 block of Tulane Avenue in the First District on May 29, 2017. He was arrested in the 2700 block Mendez Street in the Third District.
  • Melvin Stalks (DOB: 10/18/95) was arrested for two counts of aggravated assault with a firearm, simple battery, possession of crack cocaine (9.74 grams) and marijuana ( 1.37 grams), and  being a felon in possession of firearm (Glock 23, 40 caliber). The incidents occurred at Jackson Avenue and Willow Street on June 17, 2017, and in the 2100 block of Willow Street in the Sixth District on June 15, 2017. He was apprehended in the 1600 block of Poland Avenue in the Fifth District.
  • Brandon Jackson (DOB: 7/29/1989) was arrested for armed robbery, aggravated burglary, aggravated assault with a firearm, illegal discharge of a firearm, and simple criminal damage to property. The incident occurred in the 7800 block of Sand Street in the Seventh District on April 15, 2017. He was arrested at 2700 Tulane Avenue in the First District.
  • Roger Thorpe (DOB: 1/7/1954) was arrested for armed robbery, aggravated assault with a firearm, and illegal discharge of a firearm. The incident took place at I-10 and Read Boulevard and Thorpe was arrested nearby in the Seventh District.

June 24

  • Elliot Peters (DOB: 7/15/1999) was arrested for homicide.  The incident occurred on June 13, 2017, in the 9300 block of Chef Menteur Highway and Peters was arrested in the 3900 block of Baronne Street in the Sixth District.
  • David Griffin (DOB: 2/4/1992) was arrested for carjacking and armed robbery. The incident took place on June 20, 2017, at Bennett and Rankin streets and Griffin turned himself in to authorities.
  • Chester Brister (DOB: 5/4/1987) was arrested for attempted homicide.  The incident took place in the 7400 block of Benson Court and Brister was arrested at his residence a short time later.
