NOPD Arrests Second Suspect in Attempted Homicide on Garden Oaks Drive

Members of the NOPD’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad today (June 21, 2017) arrested Michael Baker (DOB: 10-20-1994) in connection with an attempted homicide that occurred in the 3300 block of Garden Oaks on June 12, 2017.

On the date of the incident, Fourth District officers responded to a reported shooting at the location. As investigation into the incident developed, detectives learned that just before 3 p.m., the victim had entered a gold 2013 Chrysler 200 allegedly occupied by Dwayne Proby (DOB: 02-09-1994) and his half-brother, identified as Baker, and suffered multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was later transported to an area hospital via private conveyance.

During the investigation, Baker was identified by detectives as a suspect in the incident, and a warrant was issued for his arrest. VOWS officers today located Baker and placed him under arrest. Baker was booked into Central Lockup on a charge of principal to attempted second-degree murder.

Proby was positively identified as the perpetrator of the attempted second degree murder and arrested on June 16, booked on a charge of attempted second-degree murder.
