The NOPD today (July 19, 2023) arrested Jnea Perkins, DOB: 11-26-1990 in connection with an armed carjacking incident that occurred this morning in the 5400 block of Wisner Boulevard.
At about 10:17 a.m., NOPD Third District officers responded to a report of an armed carjacking at the location. Upon arrival and interview, the victim told officers that she was sitting in her vehicle when she was approached by an unknown black female who demanded the victim’s keys and property at gunpoint. The victim complied and exited the vehicle. The suspect then entered the victim’s vehicle and fled the scene.
A short time later, NOPD Fifth District officers located the vehicle traveling on Port Street. A pursuit was requested and subsequently authorized by rank. The vehicle subsequently crashed at the intersection of Port Street and North Galvez Street, at which time the female driver exited and fled on foot. Officers quickly apprehended the driver, identified as 32-year-old Jnea Perkins. The suspect was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries sustained in the crash.
Upon release from medical care, Perkins will be booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for armed robbery with a firearm and flight from an officer in a vehicle.
