Officers in the Fifth District have arrested Tyron Burton (DOB: 01/18/1994) and Rydell Lewis (DOB: 04/19/1996) after they were both found to be in possession of narcotics and firearms.

On Sunday, July 1, 2018, a Fifth District detective conducted surveillance in the 1700 block of Mandeville Street, due to multiple complaints of subjects selling illegal narcotics and possessing firearms in the area.

During the investigation, the pictured subjects were observed entering the driver side of a tan vehicle. The detective then observed one of the subjects conduct a hand to hand transaction consistent to narcotics activity.

Both subjects were detained by the Fifth District Task Force. Officers also executed a search warrant for the vehicle due to the detective’s belief that the subjects were storing narcotics in the vehicle. During the course of the search warrant, two firearms were confiscated from the driver-side floor board of the vehicle. Officers also confiscated drug paraphernalia associated with drug sales from the interior of the vehicle.

Both subjects were transported to the Orleans Parish Justice Center, where they were booked with felon in possession of a firearm due to Burton being on active federal probation and Lewis is on active state probation for selling narcotics.

Anyone with any additional information regarding this incident is asked to contact Fifth District detectives at 504-658-6050.
