Suspect Arrested for Second-Degree Murder on Port Street

Suspect Arrested for Second-Degree Murder on Port Street

The NOPD has arrested Kierston Johnson (DOB: 08-19-66) for one count of second-degree murder in connection with the homicide of 36-year-old Jessica May-Orr.

At around 2:46 p.m., Fifth District officers received a call about an aggravated battery by shooting in the 1900 block of Port Street.  Upon arrival, officers discovered a female victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest inside of an apartment.

The victim was transported to the hospital by EMS where she later died from her injuries. 

The victim and perpetrator were neighbors and the investigation remains active at this time.
