Suspect Arrested for Robbery at Chartres and Governor Nicholls

The NOPD has arrested Byron Rose (DOB: 3/19/1988) in connection with a robbery at Chartres and Governor Nicholls streets.

On July 5, 2017, shortly before 6 p.m., a male victim was attacked from behind by an unknown black male wearing blue clothing. NOPD Eighth District detectives located surveillance video of the incident and released a photo of the perpetrator. Shortly before 3 a.m. on July 7, 2017, Louisiana State Police officers spotted the suspect, later identified as Rose, as he stood at the intersection of Esplanade and Dauphine streets.

The subject was detained due to his resemblance to the perpetrator in the video. Eighth District Detective Steve Nolan was able to confirm and positively identify the perpetrator.

Rose was transported to the Eighth District station where he confessed to attacking and taking the victim’s money. He was arrested for second degree robbery.
