NOPD VOWS Officers Arrest Suspect in Homicide at St. Bernard Avenue and North Roman Street

Members of the NOPD’s Violent Offenders Warrant Squad today arrested Levour Lombard Jiles (DOB: 09-14-1980) in connection with the homicide of Arthur Hubbard that occurred on June 23, 2017 at the intersection of St. Bernard Avenue and North Roman Street.

At about 5:17 p.m., First District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting at the location. Upon arrival, officers found a male victim, later identified as Hubbard, inside of a white Pontiac G6 vehicle that had crashed into two parked vehicles near the intersection. Hubbard was found to be suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. Hubbard later died at the hospital as a result of his injuries, at which time the incident was reclassified as a homicide.

As investigation into the incident progressed, detectives were able to develop Jiles as the perpetrator and obtain an arrest warrant on a charge of second-degree murder. Jiles was located, arrested and will be booked into Central Lockup accordingly.

In addition to the second degree murder charge, Jiles was also arrested on a charge of theft by fraud in connection with an incident that occurred on July 11, 2016 in the 5700 block of Crowder Boulevard.
