NOPD Seeks Vehicle Used in Officer Shooting

The NOPD is looking for the public’s assistance in locating a vehicle used in a drive-by shooting of a police officer this morning (July 24).

On July 24, 2017, at approximately 1:13 a.m., a NOPD officer was patrolling the area of Camp and Leontine streets when an unknown vehicle approached from the rear at a high rate of speed. The officer pulled to the side of the road and the other vehicle slowed as it passed the officer’s car. An unknown occupant of the vehicle fired a weapon multiple times at the officer, striking him once.

The suspect’s vehicle is described as a dark SUV.
