NOPD Investigating Fatal Hit and Run Crash at Frenchman and North Dorgenois Streets

The NOPD is investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred in the early hours of July 26, 2017 at the intersection of Frenchman and North Dorgenois streets

At about 3:42 a.m., Fifth District officers responded to a vehicle crash at the intersection. Further investigation revealed that a Mercury Milan traveling north on Frenchman Street and a Honda CRV traveling west on North Dorgenois Street reportedly collided in a t-bone crash. After impact, the Mercury Milan continued on Frenchman Street, striking two residential structures in the 2500 block before coming to rest. Meanwhile, the Honda CRV came to rest nearby in the street on the 2500 block of Frenchman Street.

The two female occupants of the Mercury Milan were transported to an area hospital for treatment of injuries, where the female passenger later died.

The driver of the Honda CRV was reported to have exited the vehicle and fled the scene on foot.

Investigation into the incident is ongoing. No further information is available at this time.
