Here’s Where You Can Grab A Free Cup Of Coffee And Meet NOPD Patrol Officers This Saturday

This Saturday, January 14, residents and visitors are once again invited to come out to participating McDonald’s restaurant locations in New Orleans for “Coffee with Cops”. From 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., attendees will have an opportunity to meet with neighborhood patrol officers and enjoy a free cup of coffee. The popular community policing event is a public-private partnership that aims to bring together police officers and the communities they serve. This is the fifth “Coffee with Cops” event held since the program started in June 2016. Since then, hundreds of community members have interacted with officers and learned new ways that they can be more active in their neighborhoods.

Eight McDonald’s Restaurant locations in New Orleans are participating in the event, including:

  • 2757 Canal Street (First District)
  • 3443 S Carrollton Avenue (Second District)
  • 3025 Elysian Fields Avenue (Third District)
  • 3250 General De Gaulle Drive (Fourth District)
  • 1918 North Broad Street (Fifth District)
  • 3321 St. Charles Avenue (Sixth District)
  • 6005 Bullard Avenue (Seventh District)
  • 711 Canal Street (Eighth District)

Business Owner Continues to Highlight Outstanding Officers

In addition to hosting several of the “Coffee with Cops” locations, Chris Bardell, a local McDonald’s owner and operator, will announce the NOPD Officer of the Month Award for January. Bardell started the program in October 2016 as a way to recognize an NOPD officer for going above and beyond the call of duty on the job. As part of the recognition, Bardell awards the winning officer with a $750 scholarship that the officer can use to participate in police training and leadership programs across the country. The awards will be presented by Bardell and Chief Michael Harrison at 10 a.m. at the location at 711 Canal Street.
