The NOPD is investigating a traffic fatality that occurred on January 4, 2024, at the intersection of Chef Menteur Highway and Wilson Avenue that left a pedestrian dead.
At about 10:47 p.m., NOPD Seventh District officers responded to a call of a vehicle crash with injury at the location. Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive adult male lying in the roadway
Through investigation, it was determined that the driver of the vehicle was traveling westbound on Chef Menteur Highway in the left lane when, for unknown reasons, the pedestrian victim walked into the roadway and was struck by the victim’s vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim in this incident upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
