The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred in the early hours today (January 6, 2024) in the 4200 block of Dale Street and left one person dead.

At about 1:30 a.m., NOPD Seventh District officers responded to a call of a shot person at the location. Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive adult male was found inside of a crashed vehicle at the location. The victim was found to have sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was declared deceased on scene by EMS.

Investigators are gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident and a motive. No additional details are currently available.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of the autopsy and notification of the family.
