NOPD Investigating Homicide in Fifth District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide incident that occurred today (January 19, 2024) in the 1800 block of Touro Street and left one victim dead.

At about 2:11 p.m., a gunshot wound victim arrived via private conveyance to a local hospital, where the victim was later pronounced deceased. The incident was classified as a homicide. Further investigation led detectives to determine the location of occurrence to be in the 1800 block of Touro Street. 

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are currently available.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
