The NOPD officially graduated two of our new four-legged officers, Jo and Carlos.

Both dogs were born in Europe and arrived in New Orleans with their new handlers on October 13, 2017. The canines and their new handlers have completed a total of 10 weeks of training in Lafayette and then in New Orleans.

Jo and Carlos are trained in explosives and munitions, where they are responsible for finding guns and spent casings on crime scenes.  However, they'll also be doing patrol work, so citizens can expect to see them working most special events in the Eighth District including Mardi Gras.
