The NOPD is requesting assistance in identifying and locating a person of interest in the investigation of a homicide that occurred on February 9, 2024, in the 700 block of South Galvez Street.

At about 6:55 a.m. on February 9, NOPD First District officers responded to a call of an unresponsive subject down at the location. The male subject was located and subsequently declared deceased on scene by EMS. At that time, the incident was deemed an unclassified death.

As investigation into the incident progressed, detectives obtained evidence that led them to believe the subject was the victim of a homicide. The signal for the incident was then changed to a homicide.

Through investigation, NOPD Homicide Section detectives have developed the pictured unknown subject as a person of interest. The subject was seen walking on surveillance video in the vicinity of the incident location around the time of the incident.

The person of interest can be viewed on surveillance video in the above player.

The pictured subject is not currently wanted on criminal charges in this investigation. However, detectives feel that this subject may have knowledge of information vital to the investigation and wish to question them.

Anyone with additional information that can assist in this investigation is urged to contact NOPD Homicide Section detectives at 504-658-5300. Those wishing to report information anonymously can do so by calling Crimestoppers of Greater New Orleans at 504-822-1111 or toll-free at 1-877-903-STOP.
