NOPD Makes Arrest in First District Homicide

The NOPD has arrested Joel Warren (Black male, DOB: 1/20/05) in connection with a homicide that occurred in the First District on February 8, 2024.

At about 6:55 a.m. on February 9, officers responded to a call of an unresponsive subject down in the 700 block of South Galvez Street. The male subject was located and subsequently declared deceased on scene by EMS.

The Orleans Parish Coroner later identified the victim as 66-year-old Marty Williams.

Through investigation, detectives identified Warren as the alleged perpetrator in this homicide.

Warren was arrested on February 20, 2024, on one count of second-degree murder and booked accordingly into the Orleans Parish Justice Center.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
