The NOPD is investigating a traffic fatality that occurred this morning (February 25, 2024) in the 19700 block of Chef Menteur Highway that left one person dead.
At about 6:42 a.m., the call came in of a traffic accident. Upon arrival, officers discovered the driver, an adult male, unresponsive inside of a vehicle lodged between a tree and a fence. The driver was declared deceased on scene.
Through investigation, it was determined that the vehicle, traveling Eastbound, had veered off the road for an unknown reason and struck a fire hydrant and a tree.
The Orleans Parish Coroner will officially identify the victim in this incident upon completion of the autopsy and notification of the family.
