The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred early this morning (February 10, 2024) in the 800 block of Chartres Street that left one person dead.
At about at 1:45 a.m., Eighth District Officers responded to an aggravated battery by shooting at the location. Upon arrival, officers located the an adult male unresponsive on the ground. EMS pronounced the victim deceased shortly after.
Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive.
The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
