NOPD Searches for Vehicle of Interest in Attempted Armed Robbery Incident

The NOPD is seeking assistance from the public in locating a vehicle that was used in an attempted armed robbery incident on Friday, February 9, 2018.

At or about 8:30 p.m., Fourth District officers responded to a call of an armed robbery in the area. Upon arrival, the victim told police she arrived home and parked her vehicle in front of her residence located in the 3600 block of Somerset Drive. The victim unloaded bags from her vehicle and proceeded to her driveway, at which time she was approached from the rear by an unknown male.

The suspect placed his arm around the victim’s neck and pointed a handgun to her left side. The suspect reportedly tried to lead the victim into the residence, but she refused and advised the suspect that her granddaughter was in the car. The victim then observed a second suspect outside the front passenger door of her vehicle. The second suspect tried entering the vehicle several times, but was unsuccessful.

The victim yelled for her son who came outside the residence. The two perpetrators then fled the scene in a 2014 silver Nissan Altima bearing Louisiana license plate #467AJB, heading toward Berkley Drive. The vehicle has damage to the rear driver side bumper.

The first subject is described as slim build, 5’8 tall, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants. The second subject is described as heavy build, 6’0 tall, wearing a light colored jacket, blue jeans and a large dark colored backpack.

Anyone with additional information regarding this incident is asked to call Fourth District detectives at 504-658-6040. Citizens with information that can help solve crimes are asked to call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111 or toll-free at 1-877-903-STOP.
