The NOPD is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred today (February 18, 2018) in the 700 block of North Broad Street.
At about 2:10 a.m., First District officers responded to a call of a fight involving a large group of people at the location with shots fired. Upon arrival, officers discovered an unknown male victim on scene suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. EMS arrived and treated the victim on scene, but the victim was later pronounced dead.
Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as a motive.
No further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will determine official cause of death and release the victim’s name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
