NOPD Investigating Fatal Double Shooting in First District

The NOPD is investigating a fatal double shooting that occurred today (February 17, 2018) at the intersection of St. Ann and North Prieur streets.

At about 11:33 a.m., First District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting in the area. Upon arrival, officers discovered two unknown male victims - one inside of an automobile and the other lying in the street - in the 1900 block of St. Ann Street and both suffering apparent gunshot wounds to the upper body. The victims were pronounced dead at the scene. 

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as a motive.

No further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine official cause of death and release the victims' names, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
