The NOPD has obtained an arrest warrant for Eddie Dingle (DOB: 06-30-1996) in connection with a homicide that occurred on February 13, 2018 in the 2400 block of St. Charles Avenue.

At about 4:35 p.m., NOPD officers heard gunshots ring out while they were working along the St. Charles Avenue parade route. The officers rushed over to the opposite side of the parade route to investigate, where they observed the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. EMS arrived on the scene quickly and transported the victim to a local hospital.

During the course of the investigation, detectives learned that the adult male victim was reportedly involved in a verbal altercation with another unknown male subject, who allegedly produced a gun and opened fire.

The victim in this incident later died while at the hospital, at which point NOPD Homicide Unit detectives took over the investigation.

Upon further investigation, detectives developed and positively identified Dingle as the perpetrator and obtained a warrant for his arrest for second degree murder in connection with this incident.

No further information on this active investigation is available at this time.
