Runaway Juvenile Reported from Shamrock Street

The NOPD is seeking assistance in locating a juvenile reported to have run away from her residence in the 7800 block of Shamrock Street.

The reporting person stated that on February 17, 2017, she sent her daughter, Avia Britton (DOB: 09-21-2000), to Florida to stay with her grandmother. On February 20, the mother stated, Britton was sent back to New Orleans by her grandmother. When she searched for her daughter at the airport upon her flight arriving, she was not located. Britton then called her mother to state that she had arrived at their residence. The mother asked Britton to go to a relative’s home until the mother arrived home from work, but Britton did not arrive there.

A known runaway, Britton has reportedly been in contact with her mother, but refuses to return home or to give her location. Britton has told her mother that she is with her friend, identified as “Kerail.”

Britton is described as a black female standing about 5’5” tall and weighing about 130 pounds with a long black weave hairstyle. Prior to her departure to Florida, Britton was last seen wearing blue pants and a yellow shirt.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Avia Britton is asked to contact Seventh District detectives at 504-658-6070.
