NOPD Investigating Homicide in Fifth District

NOPD Investigating Homicide in Fifth District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred this afternoon (December 28, 2023) in the 3500 block of Johnny Jackson Jr. Boulevard that left one person dead.

At about 1:04 p.m., Fifth District officers responded to a call of a shot person at the location. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. EMS transported the victim to a local hospital, where he was declared deceased. 

Upon investigation, detectives determined the victim was in a vehicle when a dark-colored sedan pulled up alongside him and fired multiple rounds. 

Investigators are gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident and a motive. No additional details are currently available.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of the autopsy and notification of the family.
