Go Big Or Go Home: NOPD Hands Out New Bicycles To 120 Students at McDonogh City Park Academy

The NOPD continued what has been a string of large-scale community engagement events this holiday season today (Dec.15) by giving away brand-new bicycles to 120 students at McDonogh City Park Academy.

A mix of pre-K and Kindergarten students received the new rides as part of the fourth annual bicycle giveaway in the First District, which includes the Treme and Mid-City neighborhoods.

The bicycles were purchased by the New Orleans Police & Justice Foundation through donations made by First District residents, businesses and neighborhood associations.

The event follows a flurry of community engagement events and toy giveaways with students over the past week including, a second line and tree decorating party in the Eighth District, a pancake breakfast and toy giveaway in the Third District, a lunch and bicycle giveaway in the Sixth District and a toy giveaway in the Fourth District.

Additional holiday events are planned in the coming days.
