NOPD Investigating Homicide on St. Bernard Avenue

he NOPD is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred last tonight, August 28, 2018 at the intersection of St. Bernard Avenue and North Broad Street that left a 42-year-old male victim dead.

At about 11;52 p.m., First District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting in the area. They discovered a 42-year-old male victim on the median cross walk suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the body. He was later pronounced dead on the scene by EMS, via a medical doctor.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as motive.

No further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine the decedent’s official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
