Suspect Identified in Aggravated Assault with a Firearm on Benton Street

The NOPD has obtained an arrest warrant for Stephon Montrel Bridges (DOB: 11-12-1988) in connection with an aggravated assault with a firearm that occurred on August 12, 2017 in the 1300 block of Benton Street. The incident reportedly occurred at about 6 p.m.

During the course of the investigation, detectives learned that Bridges had arrived at his ex-girlfriend’s residence in the area and began to beat on the front door. When no one answered at the front door, he allegedly moved to the side of the building and began beating on the structure. The victim, who was inside of the residence, then reportedly saw Bridges waiving a gun in the air as he demanded entry to the residence. Fearing for the lives of she and her children, the victim immediately called police and identified Bridges as the perpetrator. Bridges then eventually fled the location.
