The NOPD today released the following statement on the passing of Traffic Fatality Division Detective Anthony Pontiff, who suffered a fatal heart attack while off-duty late Tuesday:
“On behalf of the entire New Orleans Police department, we offer our sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Detective Anthony Pontiff. Our hearts and prayers go out to them in this difficult time, and our entire law enforcement community grieves with them. Detective Pontiff served the people of New Orleans for more than 20 years, and dedicated his career in the NOPD Traffic Division to making people safer. He will be deeply missed.”
